The Coachman's Inn – A Long Tradition of Hospitality
As the current operators, we are aware that we are upholding a long tradition of hospitality on this site. Before the present buildings, which were constructed in the 1970s, a previous building (see the photo above) was the original ‘Coachman's Inn', though the business was known by other names, including ‘The Raceway'. We think that the original business was established when guests really did arrive by the horse and carriage that is our trademark today. There was a period in the 1980s when the in-house 'Top Hat' restaurant was THE Invercargill hot spot - definitely the place to be seen dining and dancing! These days we are a little more sedate, but together with our awesome staff, we are working towards a vision of restoring the Coachman's Inn to being ‘world famous in Southland' for quality food and accommodation offered at an affordable price.
