Coachman's Inn - steeped in horse racing history.

This site used to be owned by the Pankhurst family who were very well known in horse racing circles as horse breeders and trainers.

As well as this, they ran a guest house on the site and also built 40 loose boxes which were used by visiting horsemen. The stables were built on the South and West boundaries of the site, and they can be seen in this photo of Brain Pankhurst riding Waikiwi Star.
